Tech Hub Informational Document
Updated: Apr 2, 2020
The following article was created as an instructional document for technicians entering marine training. It provides information about an online tool they can use to track their career path, find jobs, and expand their knowledge. To begin the process, I defined the audience and situation of the document by identifying the audience’s level of familiarity with the website. Once I knew that the readers would have little to no experience with the website, I chose to write using the “general to specific” organizational pattern. By doing so, I provided the audience with a basic understanding of the topic before diving into the specifics.
To begin writing, I familiarized myself with the website and documented the key features and pathways. Once this document was complete, it was published in On Board magazine and in an instructional textbook.
